The iguanas of the world are a truly unique group of animals
inhabiting North, Central and South America, the Galapagos islands, the Antilles, and Fiji and Tonga.
 | They are among the most endangered of the world's creatures, primarily because much of their habitat has been eliminated by human develop- ment or severely degraded by invasive species. Because iguanas are likely to be important seed dispersers for many native plants, their loss has serious consequences for the ecosystems to which they belong. |
