A limited number of travel awards are available to attend the 2018 ISG meeting in Fort Worth, Texas. This year we will have two tiers of awards: $250 and $500, however, additional funds may be available in special circumstances. Please note that these are NOT just for students. To qualify for an award you must 1) give a presentation (poster or oral) and 2) be in need of financial assistance. To be considered for an award, applicants must submit an abstract detailing their project (following the guidelines of the ISG abstract submissions; refer to Call for Abstracts Post), a personal statement detailing how participation at the meeting will benefit their project and/or career (100 word max.), and a budget highlighting ONLY your estimated travel costs and the amount you have or may have available to you (i.e., if you are applying for other funding for the meeting). Preference will be given to applicants most in need. ISG membership is not necessary to be considered for an award and we encourage those of you who are ISG members to share this announcement with students or colleagues who may not already be on our Iguana Friends list.
Those wishing to apply should email application materials to Stesha Pasachnik (please use contact form to obtain email address) by Monday, July 16th, 2018. The ISG Steering Committee will select the award recipients and all applicants will receive notification by July 23rd, 2018.
Abstracts should be limited to 300 words and submitted as a single MS Word document using 12-point Calibri font and adhere to the following format: Title (in bold), Authors and Affiliation, Presenter noted with an asterisk (*), Abstract. First author should be indicated with last name first followed by first/last for coauthors. Indicate if this is an oral or poster presentation when submitting. Personal statements and budgets should be included in the SAME Word document and follow the same formatting guidelines. Applications that are incomplete or that do not follow the specified format will not be considered. Refer to guidelines here: Call for Abstracts Post.
Please note that if you are selected to receive funding you may be asked to take meeting minutes, complete a species profile for the ISG website, or other group assistance.
